From what I've heard the cost difference is huge????Also assuming you don't drive like a maniac dropping wheelies everywhere, how many Kms can you expect from a set of tyres. So for 3 17" tyres, you can get 2 18" tyres. And I'm not sure what the benefits are of running 18s (apart from looks). I have been told that the best aspect ratio to run on any car (for the comfort/performance compromise) is between 45 and 55. 18s are 40 series, so you will lose out on some comfort - although this is probably not as big a factor in the BA as it could be in the AU. I have 17" as others are to expensive to replace. I know you have to between 18" and 16" so I assume you would have to get it done. Its easy for the dealership to do with whats called the WDS machine. its a computer that they put all the upgrades into your ecu with so that's what they can use to update your wheel size and the like. Its not like they used to be able to do and change the speedo drive gear unless your car doesn't have ABS. With ABS the speedo is sensed off the ABS sensors. without ABS its done with the speedo drive gear of old. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I have the 18s on my BA and find it very smooth compared to my previous car, EB with 235/45/17. Could be partly to do with the brand of tyre, the EB had Nankang tyres which are in the lower price bracket, where as Dunlops are more expensive (better quality). I originally had Yokohamas (don't know the model #) on the EB and they were sh*t! You would run over a micro rock the size of 2 grains of sand (slight exageration..) and you could feel the jarring. An the car used to follow all the grooves in the road, especially when the tyres were nearly worn out. The BA is like a luxury limousine in comparison! So I asked how much they cost, (I didn't choose them , they were already on the car when I first saw it) they showed me the Dunlop RRP list I nearly fainted, $811.20.!!!!! Ok, they did say they could get one in about a week for under $700 but OUCH.By the way they are Dunlop FM901's 245/35x19.Cheers Bazza.ps: no tyre smoking from this 5.4.
