My insurance policy states that my vehicle is not covered if it is used "on a competition circuit, course or arena".

I will clarify with them tommorrow.

I imagine that any insurance company would promote driver training and would provide cover for such an event if the training was being delivered by accredited instructors.

If not, holding it on a designated training ground might be the go as it could not be classed as a competition circuit.

Will post some insurance company answers tomorrow.

If insurance does become a problem and a major issue, the BMW driver training they do at Eastern creek, they supply M3's for you to drive around! While our XR's sit in the carpark all nice and insured and in one piece.

The BMW course is expensive, but if insurance does become a major concern, we may not have much choice......

Have spoken to AAMI, GIO and NRMA.

Their position is this. If it is held on a race cicuit:- No cover at all.

If on a designated driver training facility:- Full cover.

AAMI are prepared to enter some correspondence re approving an exemption for a specific venue/date and seemed interested in investigating the idea, but I do not how many of you are with AAMI, if enough, I will pursue it further with them.

The sutton road driver training centre in Canberra is available for public driver training and several operators use it. I believe Rick Bates runs his courses from there, though I may be wrong.

Mick, I gather you have contact with the Bates, is this something you want to follow up?

I have spoken to NSW police academy in Goulburn, will be Monday before the appropriate people are back at work. Their track is just out of Goulburn on the Taralga road. It looks mighty fast.

I have done quite a few of these with the NSW WRX club, and what we usually do is head to wakefield or the Canberra federal police one, and hire it out for the day. The ppl instructing are the likes of Cody Crocker (ARC group N rally champ) and our inter club champoins, like former racing driver Lakis M. We quite often get invites from Aaron McGill (?) Driver Institute and assorted Sydney companies. Usually about $300/day covers it...

Has anyone thought of asking Ford to help out? Don't GT buyers get this for free? Maybe Ford could be approached for a group buy in this light?

I am going to approach Ford in relation to this, once I have a fair idea of how many people are serious about doing this. I am still asking for idea's and opinions at this point.

Ultimately I would like us all to agree on who we are going to use, that way hopefully the majority will be happy! If everyone says Wakefield is the go, we will go to Wakefield. If everyone says BMW looks the best, I will book with them. :sleepystuff:

I would definitely be interested in doing something like this.

Have done rider training on the motorbike, but never in the car. Would be fun.
