As long as the price is right I'd love to go Mick.

I'd like to be driving my car as well, so I know it's limits (although I sit on the verge of them).

:P

Use this contact for at Wakefield.

He is the one you need to speak to if you wan't a private track booking.

Wakefield would be an ideal ground as well. After the training you can go out and do some hot laps using all the knowledge you just got :D

I would be keen to do a day. More interested in learning basic handling skills rather than simply racing around a track. As mine is a company vehicle I wouldn't be covered for insurance unless it was a genuine driver training program rather than a hoon day.

On the other hand a hoon day doesn't sound.....

Thanks for the info Cro.

Hopefully I will have more luck contacting Wakefield with the new details.

Hiring the track doesnt seem to be the problem, finding somebody who will teach us is.....

*nods* It's always the problem (finding the person).

I think we should start with a basic course and leave the fanging for a proper track-day. There's more to be learn or revised at a basic level that all of us will take home and be able to us than some hot laps of Wakefield.

*shrugs* Being able to 'hot lap' and car around a circut doesn't make you a better road driver.. car control does... ie Drifting around Wakefeild only makes you look like a Silvia driver :P

I used to get up to Wakefield quite often a few years back - but stopped when the club I went with started getting a bit too dangerous on the track and too cheap to pay for on-site ambo....

A.

Hi Guys if anyone is GENUINELY interested in learning car control, I have been posting for quite a while about the 'AUSTRALIAN ACADEMY OF MOTORSPORT'.

I am one of the Directors of the Company & have been involved in & instructing car control & driver training for 8 years.

If you guys are interested in a tailored course. Let me know.

At the moment you can find a post about our next course here http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...?showtopic=8611

I am the FPV instructor for NSW.

FPV has its next days at Eastern Creek for FPV owners on January 28 & 29, if you own a GT, GTP or Pursuit ute you will meet me there!

I also am a member of the FPV-Tickford Club of NSW, & am the instructor on their track days at Wakefield.

At the moment I own a number of ford vehicles:

XR6T, manual, Blood Orange, premium brakes, 18" wheels, Leather, premium sound & side air bags.

AUII XR8 ute , manual, leather, alloy sports bar, momo pack.

EL XR6, manual, EL GT wheels.

ED XR8 Sprint, manual, premium sound, sun roof.

And an XE ESP 5.8, manual, 25000Km in the garage!

So as you can see I'm abit of a FORD MAN!

I have talked about Driver Training before with Chris Freeman.

If you want more info you can take a look at the web site:

www.aams.com.au

Or contact me directly on 0428 41 05 01 or Simone on 02 9899 3451.

We have a day on at Oran Park this weekend!

Thanks for your time, hope to see some of you guys soon!

Brad

Our driver training is contracted out to ex-cops who were pursuit drivers etc etc. My understanding is that they have some arrangement with Wakefield. Cant find their name (or remember it !!) from Canberra Yellow Pages.

Before I went to Cyprus I had to do a 4WD course and it was the best driving course I've ever done. It was run by Transport Training ACT www.suttonroad.com.au but I'm not sure if they'll be able to give u what you look for.

The Sutton track is a bit more challenging as it has some windy bits as well as a long straight where you can do some decent threshold braking.

I see Rick Bates' name in there as well. He is a really nice bloke and I reckon he'd pass on some great skills. If you get the chance to do some driver training I'd snap it up. Great fun and a skill you will have with you for life

Velvet Glove:

I had a "moment" at the end of the sweeper on Sutton Rd in a ralliart Group A VR4 turbo rally car on a demo day with the motoring editor of the Canberra times in the car.

I have only just calmed down. If I had gone off the car would have been destroyed.

The turbo pipe came off flat in 5th around the left hander and we went into the biggest oversteer, I only just gathered it up before the culvert.

Crikey, good track though.

I also did a standing lap in Lancia Delta Intergrale and we broke the lap record on the forst lap, not me driving though......
