Hi all,

was looking under the car and found an oil leak. It was coming from turbo oil line (the one on the driver's side of the oil sump) so went to tighten it and it looks like some goose has previously stripped the thread and bothched it up with loctite. So need to replace the oil sump, does anyone know what these cost? Can I get one from someone other than Ford as they will rip me off?

Cheers.

P.S always use jack stands and a trolley jack when working on a car, I was stupid and used two scissor jacks, one of which failed when I applied some force to the bolt, scared the sh*t out of me!

Brand new turbo sump is $300 for Ford. To replace the sump the motor needs to come out. Like GTXXED said just retap it with a slightly larger tap or screw in a larger bolt. Most mechanics can do it any workshop.

Being aluminium or whatever the sump is made of, can I just screw in a bigger bolt?

The thread in the oil sump seems to go a fair bit deeper than the length of the bolt, will a new bolt that is longer screw in or just end stripping the rest of the thread?

Cheers
