I think this is an FG specific problem with Drive by Wire hooked into the equation somewhere.

Below are the Spark Source Values I have been logging. The datalogs shows abnormallity in the way you would expect the spark to operate.

When decelerating you would expect to see 18 then 9 when you come to idle. Except sometimes its 18 then 9 for a second then 1 or 0 or 2 then sometimes 4 or 7 or 8 then settles to 9. The idle timing(9) is about 10deg and will spikes on the other maps (up to 40+deg) and causes sh*tty idle.

So really only a datalog can tell you if its a similar issue to mine.

0 Crank or under speed

1 Base

2 Borderline

3 Torque control

4 Pre-ignition

6 Stabilized low load

7 Cold engine low load

8 Idle feedback at minimum clip

9 Idle feedback

10 Spark set by on-demand self-test

15 Output State Control

16 Foreground Spark Borderline Clip

18 Closed-Throttle Deceleration Spark

although throttle blade position is used to control idle, the ecu uses spark to help control idle speed as it is quicker than adjusting throttle position

Thanks - so what do you think my tuner should focus on - idle spark or throttle position or both. Sorry I have liitle knowlege or understanding of any of this. Cheers

When I was running e85 I ran into this problem of spark jumping and leading to a miss at idle, even when I commanded low idle timing. This was a simple fix in the end but it had me scratching my head to start with. It wasn't throttle or idle timing related....it was the relationship between various timing tables. The spark source for idle is obviously 9 but that doesn't inform you as to the base spark value :-)

If you have to take forum advice to your tuner.......well I won't even say anymore! Plus they aren't likely to listen!

As ratter eluded too..... you have to ensure your vehicle is mechanically sound also.

My stock FG does this sometimes when pulling up at the lights, it feels like it's going to stall and then recovers, does not happen all that often but you do notice it when it happens.

So im thinking it could be an FG issue rather than the product of your tune.

Yeah could be a common problem, or even something mechanical/service orientated...maybe a few mods and tune elevate it?
