So just about to take delivery of our new baby next week and as usual the sales guy has told me that the after market bird will be in contact Monday to discuss pre delivery options such as paint protection, leather protection etc etc etc so what is the general opinion regarding this stuff? Will the dealership bend me over and should I be taking care of this after purchase? Who would be best to approach for this sort of thing, detailers or a paint and panel mob, appreciate any thoughts and advice!

Never have bothered, never will. A good coat or two on fresh paint plus normal washing/polishing thereout does the job, as for the interior - again, regular clean and dressing.

As an example, my dealer wanted $6xx for tinting and I got it done for less than half that aftermarket.

I told the sales bird that, she knocked a heap of the price and I got it tinted

Fluffy used to be the aftermarket sales at rebel ford ............. Its all a huge rip off

Xpack = massive fail , massive coin

Tinting is about the only thing they can price match and its the only thing worth it

I wouldn't give Fraud the time of day if it wasn't for warranty. The other day the lady in service asked me if my G6E was auto or manual

Thanks for the feedback, I thought that I would give it a swerve unless of course they can be competitive on tint? I spoke to a paint and panel guy today and he said the same thing just a good going over with wax and then simply keep it clean!!

Forget the lady, the receptionist at mine isn't much good either. She was giving me the capped price service payments for a G6E (no Turbo)...

My experience with the service guy has been better. They're a large dealer (they have seperate full size sites for new, used, service and another for parts) so it may help as I've basically been 'assigned' one service guy. Any warranty or servicing issues, I get transferred to him, when I've taken the car in, it's always him who takes me through what they're doing, calls me when it's ready, etc.

Obviously I have no idea if he actually does the work (but I saw him doing a F6 once, so possibly he's the resident 'Turbo Expert' or something) but its good to at least talk to the one person and when you mention something he actually remembers from your file rather than going 'ill have to speak to 'Bill' about what he did with that'.

That's not to say its all rosy. I've had Bluetooth issues that took a couple of goes before they understood the problem properly.
