Better copy some of my post from my build thread on my first impressions (about 120km of driving). Also reading sidewall today they are 400 treadwear:

Achilles ATR Sport 2 in 245/40/18 for $179 a corner drive away at Midland Tyre Power, notes so far:

TC off and a 95% dry road they only lose traction at top of first, second has stuck well so far. Car now feels less powerful :/

TC off on a damp road 20 seconds after the previous test, they spun in second but again only right up in the revs, probably 4500RPM to 5000. Incredible bang for buck so far!

Also fairly quiet it seems, but I might have been used to the roar of the previous monstrosities.

Defiantly not that square on a 8.5" rim. Does help with clearance on a 20" rim though.

I measure the thread face on the ATR2 and my front 245s came in at approx 235mm. The rears which are 275s come in just under 265mm.

It's weird how different tyres come in different real world widths for a given width rating. Annoying actually.

Yeh that's why I didn't get them for our wide rims

I heard those new nexen were good. I went 6000 this time as those were to new.

I was very hesitant aswell, but only 300rwkw so wasn't going to be a real issue. Time will tell for other things like treadwear, noise etc. They are a little noisier but I'm also running them at 10psi above my old dunlop gt's as these grip much easier so no need to drop the tyre pressures

Curling is a sport yeah? Pretty sure the curling stone is rated at 400 treadwear as well?

I wouldn't have expected the grip levels these tyres have with 400 tread wear either, believe me. I hit up another of my favourite on ramps today, GEH to Orrong Rd North (G. Farmer Fwy) and I was able to hit it as fast as ever. Feel more like my old KU31's at 320 tread wear.
