Ale Member 249 Member For: 13y 4m 17d Posted 16/10/12 12:22 PM Share Posted 16/10/12 12:22 PM Under the taxi tonite giving the ZF and motor a new load of liquid gold when I realised Im up for a new tranny mount and the tail shaft centre bearing rubber is starting to pull away from the housing.Quick google reveals the centre bearing is a common failure and its listed on eBay. Wondering is there a nolathane type after market item available considering they fail so often? or should I just get a generic replacement and budget changing it every couple years? Then the tranny mount, again, listed on ebay but cant see too many failures when googled, Is this failure common ? and if so is there an after market alternative?Lastly, its a 06 BF xr6t zf auto.thanx

Was like $60 I think. Heaps less clunk when kicking back. At that price I didn't even bother looking for an after market one. I think that the 6sd auto mount is different from most of the ones listed on eBay (4A & 5M)

Had my mate order me a generic aftermarket one anyway, sounds like its same price as the Fraud item.Just have to get under there and double check I indeed have the CV type centre bearing and get him to order me one of them aswell

Ale Member 249 Member For: 13y 4m 17d Posted 24/10/12 09:49 AM Author Share Posted 24/10/12 09:49 AM Ok, so trans mount took less time time than it did to drink 2 beers over my pit, next the tailshaft centre bearing, simple question, does the thing have to be pressed off the shaft once the uni is appart or is it a slide fit? Im thinking pressed....

Ale Member 249 Member For: 13y 4m 17d Posted 21/01/13 10:13 PM Author Share Posted 21/01/13 10:13 PM For the benifit of the DIY crowd:Can comfirm uni joint has to be pulled apart and bearing pressed off and then new one back on. Didnt stuff around with the old uni, replaced it upon re assembly. Both the Uni and bearing came from hardy spicer, never found an after market upgrade and steered away from the no name Ebay bearings. My series 1 2006 BF XR6t took the smaller 30mmID bearing, even though by the catalogue I was using stated it shouldve taken the 35mmID bearings.
