I wouldnt call a ZF a complete package for the strip. that's a big call. Give me an old school box for the drag strip any day of the week over a ZF.

I think Possum was referring to a combination of both. Great for street and now also good for track. Would not want to run around the street in a 2 speed glide. Remember most people use these 95% street and 5% track. I know I do anyway.

The post was quoting xr6t_ute not possum.

There isn't a work shop in Australia that isn't breaking ZFs, and have been for 2 years. Agreed they are improving a little but not for those chasing 9s. Nizpro are no further in there development of the ZF then Rob from Monsta, Simon from Xtreme, Jamie from Forced and another dozen other places. I was looking at one of our forum members built ZF in bits today on a bench and can see what everyone is doing to make them stronger. It's not a whole lot to be honest.

As for driving a glide or Turbo 400 on the street, well I drive my ute to work and home with no issue bare tire loss. Most who say they are unstreetable haven't driven one. I used to think it wouldn't be.

I think the issues we currently see with ZFs at the track will be around for some time longer.

we can stop it from going into limpmode by not revving over 6300/6400 anything over that and everytime & yes all limiters have been raised, Our combo makes massive power over that so its such a waste. Our time with the zf is over but would be good to still find a solution as no doubt someone else will come across it. It started happening from the day we went to a bigger turbo & with 3 different tuners it seems like an inbuilt prob.

The ZF has seen 9's already so if it can do it once it can do it again. If my car was purely a drag car I would agree with you and would choose another option. My point is that the ZF is an extremely good option for the street. It had awesome reviews from every motoring mag in the country so I would rather have it instead of a drag focused box for the street. That's just me though. Others may completely agree with you.

I'm not debating anything the ZF can do on the street. And it is a great box for up to 400kw.

My original point was it is still far from the complete strip package, as mentioned.

But once you've spent over 5K on building and fixing a ZF in trying to run a 9, you need to question if it's the right path.

You will want to continue going faster Glouva so at some stage you will decide to either be happy with the time you've ran or take the car more toward a racing path. Take a Turbo400 Xr6t for a drive. You will be surprised how street able they are.
