Hey guys, I unwillingly had to sell my XR a couple weeks ago and I cant help but miss it, after 3 1/2 long years from a stocker I transformed it into my 11sec street car. I just cant help but feel empty without it. Am I the only that felt this after they sold there XR, especially being the car ive kept the longest.

Leo

I always think about selling my car. But I know I would feel the same way. I would hate to see someone else thrashing and slowly destroying my car.

I have my car up for sale now as it's not the most practical daily and I want something more economical. I love my car and if it had a 6spd I'd keep it but the 4spd chews too much juice.

Plus the car is starting to rack up the kms and the repairs are chewing up funds.

Yep, haven't sold mine but it will be for sale after November...still not completely convinced about selling it...

Realistically I know I will miss it since it was my first new car and I've learnt a lot from building the motor and developing the suspension for it. I also know that it will be hard to replace as an all rounder. At the end of the day though, the money from selling it will go towards a house and although its not crucial it will mean that I can get that little bit extra in a house rather than a real "fixer-upper"

What do they say? "It's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all"?

I'll be getting my brand new D-max next week, which will become my toy. Part of getting the deal passed by the missus was that she gets to choose the next family car, even if its a pink camry.

The family car at the moment is the XR6T, which will be due for replacement at the end of 2016.

I am about to run into something similar. New job and with it comes a fully maintained company car(Mondeo wagon TD), so then I have a G6ET in the garage not being used. I could easily sell it but with all the time and money I have put into I am in two minds with what to do. I know I will miss the G6ET but it doesn't do the car justice only coming out once every two weeks for a 20 minute spin and then put away again.

It would be my worst nightmare. I've got a 500km a week 11's car that puts up with the occasional thrash and carting computers/printers/UPS batteries/tools/hydraulic jack around all the time, has given me only a few mechanical issues over 180,000+km, probably related to my cornering habits (bearings and stub axle). Did get a new turbo when it was under warranty though :)

I feel for you XR64LT!! I'd take to working a second job if I had to in order to keep mine, got good memories of my late father tied up in the car which only add to the attachment. Car is paid off in less than a year now. August 2012 baby, bring it on! Might finally be able to afford tint then.

I also feel you Leo .. my wife warned me - once I sold the BF F6 , I would drive her batty .. Like wag6et .. I too had the car in the garage and it would come sparingly - and agree - it was shame full to have the car in the garaged - depreciating and not being used .

However , talking from my own personal experience , there is a warm feeling , knowning whether it at 1.00 o'cock in the morning , and you feel like a blast with the IPod bumping out Linkin Park , and late Sat night cruising the strip - or its just sitting there talking to you - praying you will take her out - its there .. But as soon as it gone - you want her back - or you need something else to fill the exact void - best of luck !!

I never been any different - it must be in my genes - and I wish I was different - but I always kept the things I loved as 'best' and over the years - I am slowing learning - that in doing so - you miss out - and the items you love - should be used as they were meant to !! :buba:

Now to practice what I have been preaching - Sure !!
