Hey all, im new to these forums. Just bought a 03 BA XR6Turbo with 129,000kms. Who are the best tuners in melbourne. A friend of mine reccomended me to Springy Motors as they did all of his work to his Subaru with great results. Anyone had experience with them tuning there XR6? Also should I tune with HP Tuners or Xcal? Car is stock standard at the moment. Eventually want 300rwkws but aiming for 240-260rwkw to start with. Any advice is welcome

Cheers

Best thing is to do a lot of reading on this forum, there is a lot of good info about modifying your BA but gonna hit a few hiccups tuning a car that is 13 years old, no matter the k's

Where are you located in Melbourne ?

Pitlane are a forum sponsor and have a very good rep in tuning Falcons

Or ring around and get a feel off the many tuners in Melbourne

Hey mate, welcome to the forums. The stats on that BA sound pretty good, must have been a good find.

FYI, the numbers you're talking about are reasonable for the BA. Any more than that and there are flow on issues with rods, boxes, pistons etc.

I would probably recommend against your friends suggestion, I don't doubt he's tuned a good subaru, but you've got a ford. There are some shops that pretty much specialist in xr's and the knowlege base amongst them is vast.

One of the tuners here is pitlane automotive (in the east). Most if not all members highly regard their work, assistance & knowledge. Maybe give them a call

Hi mate, best bet is to have chat to the various tuners regarding your requirements.

They all have their own approach.

Decide on your end point 300 rwkw and get the bits first saving on retunes.

Cat, squirters, intercooler etc have a look here for some ideas http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/forum/123-300-club/

There is Blue Power, HPF ( Horse Power Factory) and Pitlane ( Forums choice) etc

I had my car tuned by Danny from HPF, he then went to Springy. Quite mad but a good tuner.

Is he still there? As said Pitlane have a great rep here

Hope this helps

Thanks for the replies. I live in the south eastern suburbs in ferntree gully. Only mod so far is turbosmart kompact plumback bov. From what I've read valvesprings is a must, should I do this first then followed by a highflow cat? What brands can you reccomend on the springs and cat? Sorry I'm a complete noob to these cars haha.

I would also recommend pit lane...... proven mod/tune shop but if I were you, I would seriously look at going to your top kw wants straight up (as long as the tuna is comfy) as it will save you money in the long run --- until your trans, or something else goes

Welcome to the forum mate. As has been said, start reading

Edit

I see they're looking for a new floor manager

I would also recommend Pitlane, Mick and Bel are great to deal with. I have a bf that they did a tune only on and I have 250rwkw, just to give you an idea.
