Hey guys, I'm looking to gain some quality bass other than reversing the wires like some have done to the stock subwoofer. I want to use the original location without adding any amps so what are some good free-air subs on the market? I have read alot of good reviews on the JBL GTO804 but before I start buying anything, giving my situation, Is it even worth the upgrade? Thanks for the help in advance!

PS.. Would anyone happen to know the wattage of the factory amp / sub & is there a way to control the bass level without increasing bass through the rest of the speakers?

I replaced mine in my bf 2 with a sound stream reference 8"

Was a good improvement but it was only 2 months til I upgraded to a 12 inch

I think the whole idea of an 8" sub in our size cars is a bad idea

Well I'm not after massive amounts of bass. Just after something that will be better than the stock subwoofer in my car at the moment.

Can anyone help me out in regards to my FG?

Look up brands like morel, infinity, Polk maybe, higher end brands. Make sure it's an open air woofer too

I have done my research on subwoofers & know which one I'm going for. The question is it worth while to replace it while maintaining the factory amplifier to power it?

Philthy18: Did you just disconnect the 8" and wire it up to a boxed 12" running off the factory amp?

No I am running a cadence 400rms amp on it

Search for my "install opinions"

It's my thread on my boot install

It may be better, but it's not going to be great. Will never come close to even a cheap boxed 12".

What you may consider enough bass some may think is crap, and vice versa, so only you can decide really

I used to have a 12" in my old pulsar so the standard 8" didn't compare in any way so it got upgraded straight away
