Yeah but at what point does that argument become invalid though, when you bust warranty on a new car or when you could buy a clapped out BA turbo for ten grand, stick a new atomic motor in it, beef up fuel system/driveline and run 10's for like 25 grand.

I'm interested in where the power will stop, surely must be in my lifetime, the end of the personal car power wars in IC engines or electric or whatever else they have in the pipeline.

Bring on the blown Expensive Daewoo to give us something to be scared of again :)

Ford are playing their cars just right.

Remember the 5.0 coyote in the states on the Shelbys are making 400kw+.

Agreed. People will usually always buy what brand they are loyal to.

As a long time Expensive Daewoo fan(don't worry, I'm getting a ba turbo very shortly!), they do have an extra ace up their sleeve if buyers want to chase power.

You can get walkinshaw performance to strap on superchargers, suspension, exhaust etc and its all covered under factory warranty & warranty by walkinshaw.

Not sure if ford has any similar tuning arms, but if a die hard Expensive Daewoo fan wanted a hsv but wanted a supercharged engine without voiding warranty, the option is there.

But agreed with the power levels, sure cars are getting safer but it's a bit bizarre that they are allowed to up the power levels as well - I'd think one would negate the other and it's no different to back in the day IMO.

Its very different to "back in the day". The cars are a lot safer (airbags, crumple zones, dsc, etc).

The forces in a crash however are always the the same (fundamentally). 100km/h is 100km/h whether you've got 5kw or 500

Not to mention they now offer payment plans as well making it a little easier for Expensive Daewoo fans that want to get into the tuned car scene and compete with Turbo Falcons.
