My Walbro ran out of puff at 340rwkw,fitted surge tank with one 044 and went from 12.3:1 to 11.1:1 A/F's...went a crap load harder though and only required 30 minutes on the dyno which meant she went better again.

be careful without a surge at this power level, suprised it even got there tbh.

Another thing,a full tank dont mean jack when a pump is on the edge power wise when other factors come into play.Lets say your pump gets the tiniest of splits in the intank line or it just looses 5% of its flow from wear and tear....the fine line gets even finer.

I'm sure none of us are putting a spin on this out of spite etc,its purely just advice to keep you/mechanic away from a engine hoist for as long as possible.

I can imagine your smile though with a proper cooler on now,its nice to have consistantish power isn't it:)

I'd say it's past time to put in a surge tank, the intank might be doing fine but it comes down to if you're prepared to bet your engine on it. A retune is probably needed, I found mine was over-fueling once the surge tank setup was put on. Anyway, you made great power so enjoy it!

Thanks for the feedback, Good to know what exactly to do next VB%20Beer.gif

Process West/Plazmaman are the two top brands, budget 1k

lol for real?? Saving for wedding next year...What's the cheapest (decent/reliable) surge tank I could get...Would a random $200 ebay surge tank (pump not included) do the trick? And if I'm running this Walbro, do I need to just get a 2nd similar pump or do I need remove that and get 2 more bigger pumps?

Seriously got no idea how a surge tank works, where it goes and what pumps I will need.... :dontknow:

A surge tank stops air being sucked into the fuel pump during hard accel and cornering when fuel sloshes around in the tank, prevents lean out condition and engine boom, which both you and me have to be very careful of at this level on a stock motor. And I bet the old walbro will be struggling at this power

If your ins budget get them to bang an 044 and surge in the boot. You'll hear it all the time whining away though.

Yeh sorry Bionic, I meant I generally have no idea where a surge tank goes..You did explain how they work previously.

I googled a bit and people are talking about it being in the boot and needing the original petrol tank pump to keep up with the surge tank pump.. All got a bit confusing with what I actually need to buy.

I don't care about noise hey...If a suitable option is 1 bosch 044 with a surge tank, then I'm happy with that option.
