I have noticed that when it happens all lights go out, so I'm assuming a bad connection but have tighten all cables etc and had battery tested all seem fine. Must be something to do with heat? Cause it never happened at all during winter. Battery is in boot which I used heavy welders power cable but I did just extend cable from original cable not from starter. Any ideas? Very common 1 Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/82252-random-slow-crank/#findComment-1305461 Share on other sites

Only done 60,000km does it usually happen that soon? Also it has actually done it at night, is it heat soak caused by the extra resistance not so much weather heat? Heat from the engine is absorbed by the windings causing high resistance and high current draw Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/82252-random-slow-crank/#findComment-1305537 Share on other sites

MY ROD GOT OUT Member 434 Member For: 14y 7m 28d Posted 06/10/12 07:40 AM Author Share Posted 06/10/12 07:40 AM Earth cable goes straight from battery to boot with same gauge cable as battery, maybe it's not a good enought earth as its only thin metal? Would running another earth off battery to lower chassis help? Anyway to confirm that it is the starter with a voltmeter?
