I recall, in your opening that you had discussed whether to purchase the RSpec in manual or auto.. I see , that although you drove the GT-P in auto, you had made your decision to move into the manual without a drive . Like you I have always been a manual driver , and feel that the GT should be purchased in manual - or at least the RSpec .. However , having driven the GT and GT-P in auto , it made very light work of driving - and gave you a little longer to smile . I guess I interested to know - now that you have driven the manual - coming off a auto - is it the right decision and why ?

I heard people say the the clutches were really heavy but I have an old XC fairmont that I've restored and it has a worked 351 with a real heavy clutch in it. The GT is a walk in the park compared to my XC. I also heard people saying they couldn't drive the manuals slow and smooth but I don't seem to have any troubles doin that. The manual gives you heaps more control over the car and is a lot more enjoyable. Having said this I have stalled it a few times. Takes a bit of getting used to driving a manual in a car that has electronic throttle control. Just seems a bit different to my cable controlled throttle carby cars lol. At the same time though it was enjoyable in my auto xr6t to simply put the foot down and let the computer choose a gear, especially when overtaking cars. I still say its a personal choice and depends what your goin to use it for. I would still choose the manual because its a lot more fun and I'm only using the car on weekends

Redhawk ....Time to lay this fairytale aside...... Donating Members 2,657 Member For: 21y 10m 28d Gender: Male Location: In the Ferry on the River Styx, not getting out just yet! Posted 03/11/12 02:33 AM Share Posted 03/11/12 02:33 AM HelloI recall someone saying earlier, whether you're financing $70k or $80k the monthly repayments and balloon are not to dissimilar - so that argument continued to suggest why not buy the RSpec instead of the GT - Why not????I started my journey looking to move into a new FG F6 and having driven the GT , I now stead fast on the GT - GT with SatNav that is.. However, there continues to be romantic feeling about having a RSpec. What has been the consensus amongst new owners of GT / GT-P / lucky few with RSpec ? A dealer last week quoted me $1200pcm with a ballon payment at 35% on a RSpec , which wasn't too different to what I had been quoted on a GTWork has allowed me to be able to purchase the car on Novated Lease - however, as I will only drive the car on weekends - although the savings on GST is a lure , I not sure that the monthly salary sacrifice covering all expenses is something I feel very comfortable with .Your thoughts on Novated Lease would also be very appreciatedMany thanks againHi Mate,Have been leasing my FG GT now for 18 months, and so far the experience has been fantastic, although finding hard to get the 25,000kms up this year, might need to do a run to Adelaide and back, bugga!! Due to the fluffing up the Leasing company does with your yearly costs and if you look at cheaper insurance, tyres etc you will come out on top. For example, drive away price (leased) for me was $68,000 (new price was $83,000), with cheaper tyres, insurance and the fuel costing less per litre that was quoted in lease I have a residual in lease account of about $4,500, with the 5 year lease over the residual is $12,000, so the way I'm going I will walk away with my car, no out of pocket expenses and probably get a little cash refund as well. The kilometer quote with the new leasing arrangements and FBT the Fed Govt has bought inb does not apply to new leases (as of May 2010). So if your company will salary sacrifice your leasing costs I would reccommend it.

Posted 03/11/12 02:39 AM Share Posted 03/11/12 02:39 AM Must admit the black and red combination looks overdone, Lane Ford in Mandurah have black, white and blue RSpecs in showroom and must admit the blue looks bloody good. For those interested they have the white one for sale (exdemo) for $78,000 drive away!!!!!!! :sungum:Launch Control????? GAY!!!!........ if you can't drive one of these cars correctly take lessons. Left a Harley Davidson at the lights last week, and the hairy bloke riding it was not impressed!!.....
