Hi guys I just purchased my first brand new car.....A manual GT Rspec! (Thought I'd start with the best)

Test drove one of the GTPs the other day and loved the sound and performance for a stock car. Not being able to drive the rspec, not real sure on how different it will be but looks good on paper.

I already hav a bf2 xr6t and really happy with its performance after the mods I did to it but having been a v8 lover from way back I decided it was time to upgrade.

I was trying to decide for a long time if I should go auto or manual. I've always been a manual person but since I've had the xr6t in auto it's changed my attitude due to its strength and ease. Eventually though I decided on a manual cos I'm only gonna be driving it on weekends as my fun car.

It should be ready for delivery in a couple of weeks and I can't wait.

I was wondering, because I've never had a brand new car, what sort of running in procedures I should follow eg take it easy for a while or just hammer it, maybe do hill drives etc

If other gt owners could let me know what they did to run their cars in that would be good.

I am also interested in the kits kpm do with the warranty. Might look into them further after the car has been ran in.

They come good to go, just take it easy in case any gremlins pop up that may require attention. That doesn't mean drive like a grandma though!

Mate im 620kms into my GT. And I am flogging the living sh!t out of it. ive passed 2 dollars a few times, I often go to open roads and hold my foot flat down until Im really moving.

In traffic I knock it down gears early. It loves it. Ive hit the rev limiter countless times.

No need to baby it. Run it in hard. End of next week I will have done about 950kms and Ill be draining oils and filling up with new.

Haha that's awesome. I assumed fpv made their car to be able to do just that

As already mentioned don't be afraid to exercising the engines capability, you need to load it up to put pressure on the piston rings so they bed into the bores, just don't go doing circle work bouncing it of the limiter for extended periods. Keep an eye on your engine oil level as this engine does use some.

You will the find the engine is quite tight when new and tends to use more fuel, this will improve with kilometers.

Benny.

Hello

I recall someone saying earlier, whether you're financing $70k or $80k the monthly repayments and balloon are not to dissimilar - so that argument continued to suggest why not buy the RSpec instead of the GT - Why not????

I started my journey looking to move into a new FG F6 and having driven the GT , I now stead fast on the GT - GT with SatNav that is.. However, there continues to be romantic feeling about having a RSpec.

What has been the consensus amongst new owners of GT / GT-P / lucky few with RSpec ? A dealer last week quoted me $1200pcm with a ballon payment at 35% on a RSpec , which wasn't too different to what I had been quoted on a GT

Work has allowed me to be able to purchase the car on Novated Lease - however, as I will only drive the car on weekends - although the savings on GST is a lure , I not sure that the monthly salary sacrifice covering all expenses is something I feel very comfortable with .

Your thoughts on Novated Lease would also be very appreciated

Many thanks again

Better get some good quality seat covers, those labradors tend to slobber a bit

Please tell me you were able to colour code it, or are at least going to f*ck off those ugly as f*ck red wheels.

Could only get the standard black one. Still not too sure on the red wheels. Hopefully they grow on me cos I like the fats on the rear
