I am upgrading to around 350 (engine) kW in Jan and was wondering if anybody has any actual real info on auto trans modifications (beyond just winding more pressure into the auto) and more importantly valve springs, part numbers, does the head need to come off for spring replacement, what type of springs etc. There doesn't appear to be many mechanical and/or auto genius's here in the far west. Any info would be greatly appreciated. A fantastic and prosperous new year to you all.

Peter Veersma at Welshpool Automatics is a guru. I don't know if he knows about XR6 specifically, but he would find out. He is a genius and does a heap of racecar work.

The valve springs can be changed with the head on the block using a special tool, its a time consuming task and will take approx 5 hours to complete with the right tools, this task would be best performed by a competant mechanic.
