Thinking of doing my own valve springs for my FG xr6 turbo. mainly because I like doing things myself and secondly it will save me some $$ and get my next round of upgrades sooner.

has any one rented the atomic spring tool - was it pretty straight forward (looks like it from the video).

looking for a bit of reassurance before I take the plunge

A whole day! It took me and my tuner one day to remove and modify the turbo, fit new injectors and valve springs and scale the injectors so I could drive home lol if we didnt need to pull te front cover off due to a busted guide it wouldve taken 3 hours max I reckon just to do the springs

I did both my cars and then all my mates cars. My mates then started sending other mate my way so I sold the tools so I wouldn't have to do any more. Time consuming job take 4-6 hours to complete. Only thing to watch out for is to not drop a collet so have a good magnet handy and plug up the oil galleys with a rag too. Oh yeah don't forget to pull the rags out of the oil galleys when done too. I wouldn't recommend doing it unless you have done it before or seen someone else do it. Good luck man.

^ need new mechanic?

3-4 hours with the correct tools ( spring tool, air line adapter, cam locks, electric rattle guns etc etc) and experience

4-5 hours without the correct tools and a bit of experience

5 hours + without correct tools and no valve train experience
