Hi guys,

I've just booked in my FG xr6t for some small mods which will hopefully make the car sound a bit better with some extra power.

I'm getting;

60 pound injectors

stronger intercooler piping

4" dump and cat with a 3.5" catback. Xforce S/S

and of course a tune

Any other suggestions, and what would be next. Should I worry about a new air filter or C.A.I?

What power can I expect from these mods, apparently it will be tuned to 16PSI

Stock air filters fine. Who's tuning?

The tuner that I'm going to suggested similar mods but without the catback, but suggested cutting the airbox open and putting a K n N panel filter in and said I should be looking at about 300rwkw.

Ratter have you got any data on back to back runs with stock cooler vs an aftermarket one with all other mods the same? My tuner swears that the stock FG cooler will hold up fine but I've read a million times before that it should be upgraded. I just don't feel comfortable second guessing someone who does this for a living.

My mates stock Fg turbo gets heat soak, the 300rwkw will be fly by nighter so to speak, never a consistent power on tap.

300rwkw through a stock cooler would be pushing the turbo damn hard imo, having 16psi on the gauge through stock cooler would see the turbo working at 18psi pre cold side surely.

Having a family that owns a tuning center I know the money is not huge(satisfaction can be though) for the hours worked,im sure ratter aint in the game of replacing parts on his own cars if its not needed.....more coin left in his pocket.

If you have to keep stock cooler then go for 270ish as it will be more consistant, its still going to suffer though if a std vehicle obtains heat soak in Spring weather, can only imagine Summer's offerings.

who reccomended the stock cooler bloke?

What were the intake temps getting up to ratter? (just out of curiosity - want to mention it to my tuner when I speak to him next)

Hmmmm I might have to just keep an eye out for a second hand cooler cause I won't afford a new one any time soon. The other thing too is I don't want to second guess my tuner, like there's no reason to convince me to not buy more gear from them. (he didn't know I was probably going to try source some parts myself).

The tuner is Glenn from ESP racing in Queanbeyan (in Canberra so it's close for me). He said I was more than welcome to see dyno printouts and everything for FG's with same mods and power etc, wonder if they're worth getting for you guys to look at?

Also I don't want to push 16psi through the turbo, I was hoping for about 14 tops! f I'm gonna need 16psi to get 300rwkw and its no consistent power then I'm definitely going to get a cooler
