Hi all,

Have looked right through the forum and have found some similar topics, but none with the exact same problem as mine.

If I'm driving along the freeway at, say, 80kmh and accelerate to pass someone the box will drop from 6th to 4th which is great, but when I back off again after passing them it won't upshift to 5th or 6th. It just holds 4th forever and cruises along in 4th at 120kmh until I shift switch across and manually upshift.

Now, I've been looking on here for a while and have tried all of the remedies I've found:

- had the gearbox serviced (which it was probably due for anyway - 85000km) - no change

- new tyres as the rears were worn - no change

- tried backing off gently so the box doesn't think I'm about to go into a corner and hold the gear - no change

- tried disconnecting battery overnight to reset mapping - no change

- tried turning off stability control - no change

The other thing I've noticed is that if I activate the cruise control the box will shift to 5th then 6th PERFECTLY!

I'm guessing/hoping it's something in the mapping that I can reset or change but apart from that I'm rapidly running out of ideas, so any thoughts you have would be a big help!

Cheers

Kyle

PS: car is 100% stock, 90000km, bf mk2 07 upgrade.

This is your cause, belting it and it drops back will then hold that gear for a while (depending on car and trans will be how long, each car and trans behave in different ways) anticipating that you will kick it back again, the more you do this the more the trans thinks its going to happen again, manual mode with the ZF is the best way to belt it around giving you ultimate control over which gear the car is in, and IMO will help trans life. My F6 is modded from the day I got it and hasn't even had a trans service since I've owned it, I have been hard on the car and 99% of the time in manual mode and have not had a single issue from the ZF yet.

Does disconnecting the battery for a substantial time make it forget the learnt settings and allow you to re-teach it?
