Hey, I have a bf2 turbro and am looking to do a service, I looked on the Castrol website and they recommend Castrol Edge 0w40, and Castrol Magnatec 10w40, I also noticed I need 6.6Lt of oil, just wondering if it would be ok to mix 5Lts Castrol Edge 0w40 fully synthetic with 1.6Lts of Castrol Magnatec semi synthetic? I like the idea of the Magnatecs added protection on start up, but I'm unsure on mixing full syn with semi syn also the different thinkness.

No to mixing..

Edge is good..

Some people have some good to say about the Nulon 10-40 for these cars also if you're looking for something cheaper then edge.

I just wait until Superchips 20% off sales and buy 3 x 5 litre bottles; good for two oil changes.

Awesome thanks for the replies, I was going to do the engine oil, manual trans oil, and diff oil all at once, and was going to keep to the one brand of oil like Castrol, I did think of Penrite and Nulon too but I don't know how people rate it, there websites do recommend a heap of oils too.

5 is not too light. 5 is in fact thicker than 40, as this is when the oil is cold, and its viscosity changes as it goes to 40 which is at operating temp.

So a 5w40 is fine a 0w40 is fine. All it means is that the starting viscosity of the oil is closer to what the engine requires at operating temp.
