Once again as we are approaching our Aussie summer we are starting to see the ambient temperature of our days rising. This is great for barbecues, beaches and holidays however not for the Coyote 5.0 S/C intake temperatures.

With the ease of extracting astounding power from the 5.0 S/C Engine with very little effort, we are seeing many Coyotes with well over 400 rwkw this season.

However in many cases, we are also seeing that this power level is not being supported by any cooling of the intake temperatures. What this means is that the power level achieved is in essence not sustainable and more importantly can become a detriment to reliability and fuel economy.

I understand that cheap power is attractive; however it becomes very obvious on any type of testing eg dyno, track, drag strip and even road that a non -intercooled 5.0 S/C engine suffers from high intake temperatures in both standard form and especially when power levels are raised.

On an average 24 deg day a STANDARD non- intercooled Coyote can see intake charge temperatures as high as 70-80 degrees Celsius in city driving and increasing with any type of spirited driving.

Couple this with upgrading engine power and higher boost levels and you will see the intake temperatures creeping towards 100 deg celcius.

Ford engineers have placed a safety mechanism in the tune to simply de-tune the engine power to protect the engine with such high intake temperatures.

We have found that on a 24 deg day without exception ALL un-intercooled Standard and especially upgraded Coyotes are driving in a compensated de-tuned mode due to high intake temperatures. You can imagine what happens on a 38 degree middle of summer day.

This becomes the major reason that one of the first aftermarket upgrades released by Streetfighter and several other quality companies was the Intercooler upgrade.

As a comparison on a 24 deg day, a quality intercooler will lower your intake temperatures from a non intercooled 70-100 degrees to an intercooled 35-60 degrees.

Power will be reliable and maintainable, with no need for the computer compensations detuning your engine. This means maximum efficiency power and fuel economy.

I think its a ridiculous amount. No doubt that the stage 2 system is quality, and would do the job spot on. But that's just drug dealer money IMO. 2k. Ok.

I would love to release this product around the 2k mark and sell coolers and packages to every car; however with the componentry needed to operate and cool correctly and reliably we as a business cannot even purchase the materials for 2k.

We have made a decision to have all our intercooling components 100% Australian made with the highest quality materials and manufacturing processes.

Unlike Air to Air intercooling, it is vital that the under plenum cooler is a high quality unit that will not leak any water into the engine over the lifetime of the vehicle. It is vital that the riser plate is machined correctly and seals, vacuum, boost and oil without leakage over time.

It is vital the coolant pump is a high quality unit able to deliver correct amounts of intercooling fluid through the system to intercool efficiently.

It also takes design and engineering time and changes over a long period to release a product that does justice to the value of the car and is reliable over its lifetime.

I am sure our coolers will be copied over time and be produced overseas for a budget price; however we prefer to have full control of manufacturing process and quality. This ensures we deliver what we say and also allows us to be the only Australian company to offer Factory Warranty Protection on our products.

I believe we are currantly offering the most efficiant, best value for money cooler availble on the market.

I wonder if the some of the commentators think through the issue of sunk costs for the R and D for these products? It is not a few bux and in a small market, is very hard to spread and recoup over a product life. Our northern friends are very good at copying things and IGNORING patent laws - just ask BMW, Sony and Detroit Diesel to name three. However - show me one product they have put into the automotive market that is original and I don't mean cheap bling ............ (silence).

BTW - price up a genuine BMW 335 cooler and deduct 25% for trade and see how you go - it ain't cheap.

Call me what you like(worry wort comes to mine), but I love the fact that this KPM Streetfighter units - does away with drilling holes in the back of the manifold - Just thinking about someone drilling holes in the back of manifold - makes my stomach turn ..

Agree with the earlier comments - $4.9 with warranty is steep - however , I forsee the likely hood of less and or no problems with his set up against the reliance of someone pulling your unit off, then drilling 3 holes that are perfect in every way . :buba:
