When you refit the rocker cover, dont forget a bit of sealant on top of where the front cover meets the head, as it was when you took the cover off ( clean the black stuff from the factory off first with a sharp scraper blade). Also, when replacing it, according to the workshop manual the front two long bolts are 13nm with no threadlock, the remaining bolts are 10 nm with threadlock. If you dont have a torque wrench, find one!, as 10nm is sweet f.a. and its easy to strip alloy head threads. Dont forget to post pics :good:

Done dozens of these, I normally give it a gentle lever with a plastic pry bar after removing cam phaser seals and the throttle body etc etc

It is a rubber gasket though

Doing it back up it's as simple as tightening bolts in a clockwise rectangular pattern from inside bolts to outside bolts twice over. Normaly just nip up with 3/8th drive ratchet. Torque wrench really isn't necasarry in my opinion.

A dob of sealant where the timin cover meets the block doesn't really hurt either.

Just think a torque wrench is cheap insurance for those who dont do this everyday.

IMHO if the OEM specifies a torque setting, use a torque wrench. Especially into ally. Kinchrome 1/4 torque wrenches can be had for $60 cheap cheap compared to strip threads @ 10nm.
