Hi all,

I have searched high and low about putting Hid/Xenons in projector headlights and there is so many mixed ideas about whether you can or can't do it.

As I have the new fg mk 2 with projectors I want to know if anyone has put xenons in these with any success. Can you even buy kits that will fit these housing properly and safely?

Any info about it would be great, I know that the projector headlights are only new to the FG range.

Cheers

Nullanulla

Yes can be done but is a little more to it than the old style H4's. No problems with mine, have had them for a few months now. I just purchased a cheap kit from ebay and they are working well.

Some before and after pics would probably be the best indicator, but to be honest I can't see the point as they cast such a defined spread of light all it is going to do is illuminate the road immediately in front of your vehicle better. Which there isn't any real need for as it's already adequate.

I can't see how they would shine further or wider like it would when fitted to a convential reflector assembly thingo.

edit...unless you're just doing the high beams I guess

I only did mine purely because I hated the dull yellow look of the conventional filiment globe and didn't think it suited the projector headlight fitted to the FGII. The white light really modernises the car I think.

This is the kit I bought. Don't fall for the Aussie sellers trying to hock these for $70 plus. They are all the same and they are made in china etc. The only ones that I would pay extra for would be genuine philips units and they will set you back $200 plus.

I did mine the difficult way you could say but it's much neater. I picked apart the new HID connectors and fed the globe wires through the factory rubber boot on the back of the headlights. This required a few hours and some fiddling but in my opinion is much neater and does not require any additional holes to be made in the rear of the headlight. I can remove these if required with no signs of modification.
