hey guys just found out that ineed new front shocks so I thought I might look at my fg xr6t instead and sort of don't really know where to start. I've forund this package on fleabay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Falcon-FG-KING-SPRING-MONROE-SHOCK-Lowered-Suspension-Package-/300776120075?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4607a75f0b but not sure if I need to buy anything else to go with it or if its any good, any decent feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I fitted this set up with ssl fronts and sssl rears a month ago. Only thing you will need is to buy shortened rear bump stops or just cut your standard ones off about half way. The car feels a lot more solid on the road compared to standard.

Hi mate,

How much do you want to lower it? I have King springs on mine, SL on all fours, there's about 5mm clearance from the wheel to the guard.

Cheers

cheers, where did you get the shortened rear bumpstops from? and did you fit it yourself because I was going to get a bloke from work that does this sh*t a fair bit to help me fit it and have been wondering if it was worth maybe getting it done properly so I have someone to yell at if something goes wrong.

not that much lower mate, although that would look sweet!! I often have the kids in the car and a crap load in the boot so I don't want to go too low. not sure how low, the ssl will apparently lower by about 20mm and the sssl by 35-40mm. Just after some opinions from others that have same/similar setups.

Yeah I'm a diesel mechanic so I did it myself. It's not a hard job, but if your not mechanically minded it would be worth getting someone else to do it. I personally just cut mine, but I'm sure any suspension shop would have them or get them. My fg dropped about 35mm front and 45mm rear. I had a full car load the other day prob about 380kg and few cartons of piss and the ride was less than average haha.

I got my monroe shocks from him a little while ago with no issues. I have 3SL front springs and 4SL back springs and have no issues with a full car load. Would depend on your wheels though

I have just got the fg 19 lux pack wheels, but have cut another 20mm off the bump stops since then and haven't had a car load since to test. Real test will come when it warms up, when it will be full car load plus jet ski. What did you do with your bump stops 1nsane?

Just cut the stock ones. Haven't had a car load and towing a trailer so can't comment on that. However I do have wider rear wheels plus better offset and still no issues

I bought and installed this combo 2 days ago as well as the superpro shortened bumpstops and camber kits all around. I went the same as insane, 3sl front and 4sl rear! front dropped about 30-35mm and rear dropped a bit more than 40mm. Plus its all going to sag a bit (approx 10mm). On 19x8 wheels with a 245/35r19 tyre it rides great, absolutely no worse than stock!

However, I needed camber kits all around, you could probably get away with no camber kits on the ssl and sssl combo, not quite sure.

Just be careful though. The rear camber kits used in our cars are either offset bushes or replace the upper control arm with adjustable ones and this cannot be done on the left side unless the diff cradle is dropped ($400 in labour alone) and for the front camber kits just buy a shim pack not the brackets as the superpro brackets are actually smaller than stock (and actually create more negative camber)! I used 9mm of shims on each side and straightened it up pretty good!

This ebay seller supplied all the parts I asked and I think its was about $1150 delivered and I installed everything myself with my old man, took us the good part of a day. But the left rear camber bush couldn't be put in unless we dropped the diff so the car's at Ford getting that done (and diff bushes) as we speak.

Heres a before and after pic to give you an idea. The photos aren't great! Waiting to wash it 2moro for some better pics
