Hi Guys,

My bonnet and front bumper has been pelted with stone chips from highway use so I'm looking to get it fixed. While I'm going to the trouble I would like ot delve into getting a bulge bonnet and the fpv looking front bumper onto my 2010 XR50T. Has anyone does this before? I imagine I would need:

FG FPV from bumper

FG falcon (not xr) front headlights

FG FPV bonnet

Then I would need to get it painted the same blue.

Where do you recomend I get these parts from? I had seen somewher previously that forum had a group buy on xr bonnets that had a custom bulge that I really did like but havn't been able to find it since! If I were to go down the fpv looking path, would you reccomend that I get the fpv side skirts and rear bumper? Are they different?

Is there anything else that I need to take into account?

Thanks.

Toby

I have also been looking into it, my bonnet had a few stone chips as my car was from rocky, I replaced that with the bulge bonnet.

There is a mob called fibre sports or something, they have front bars that use the xr headlights but I am not a fan of fiberglass. I know the front bar is going to be the pricey bit but for a cheaper option on headlights see if you can get a pair of an XT from the wreckers. Might also need to replace fog lights and the corresponding plastic clips to put the bumper on.

The bonnet I got was a aftermarket steel, lines up perfect and is of a high quality, does not come with the under bonnet shroud obviously, that is just over 200$ from ford and you will need 14 clips to hold it up and they are 4$ a pop.

Let me know if you find any good deals.

Unless your really going for an f6 look changing the front completely is going to cost a ton more then a simple re spray and in 1 years time will be back to square one.

Maybe even just get the bonnet, the bonnet alone transformed my car a lot.

if I may suggest.

Re spray the bonnet and front bar and get the bar and Bonnet wrapped in clear vynil

Yeah, I spose I wouldn't really intend to have it looking like a replica, I like the front bumper better on the fpv, but I'd still have ford badges on it. But to other people it'll probably look like an attempt to replicate. So im thinking ill stick with the xr bumper and just get it resprayed. Still looking for a bulge/vented bonnet though.

Thanks mate, where did you get your aftermarket bonnet from? Any pics?

There's plenty on ebay that offer bonnet swaps, etc, but I already like dealing with a business front on rather than through ebay, very hard to seperate the dodgy business to the legit products.

I just purchased a xr8 bonnet from a place in perth called "alpha auto parts" its to go on my 2012 turbo ute.

Cost 380.

Going to cost 500 to paint it,was going to be 500 to get it wrapped

.Im just going with the stock edge colour to keep it factory looking.
