I told you it was a GPS unit!

That black box looks exactly like the central locking module in my XE which is aftermarket. I have no idea what it would be doing in your car though :S

Here's what was inside the module, if that's any help to the electronic guys out there:

Those relays came up with this:

Low profile and low cost sugar cube automotive relay. General purpose applications for automotive &car alarm system. Available for SPNC, SPNO, SPDT contact configurations. Optional for flux-free or sealed washable type.

My question is, where are my standard AUX plugs and why is a potential car alarm/locking module in there instead?

It seems to be the control module for an after-market alarm and/or central locking unit.

My guess is it is there for an aftermarket alarm. Just unplug the part that you don't need (anything that easily removes from the car and is not wired directly into the car/factory loom). Work your way through it from there.

Yeah I started doing that, but could only unplug that 1 module and that's it.

In the first post, you can see in the last pic that the normal 2 plugs that are there have been sealed off. Not sure how I go about them now, and from those, there are wires coming off going to the other side of the fuse box (which I would guess was for the central locking, with the main module for the alarm).

Nope all still working or so it seems.

L/100kms seems to have skyrocketted though lol, not sure if that's my spirited style driving this past week but went from 14.9L to 16.9L
