Look. I am twenty, I have rang several companies about insuring an XR6T and no one has mentioned any problems. The quote I got from Ford Insure was $3000. Look at all the P platers with done up Skylines etc..

They mighnt mention it now, but l would be reading the fine print of the policy. Its no good assuming your covered until you hit that two week old BMW M3 and the insurance company comes out and says "well actually did you know its illegal for you to drive an XR6T" Of course they would be implicated in some way because they agreed to insure you I the first place so it would get really messy. If l were you l would check. Your choice.

Cant compare your case to all those Japanese turbos as their power outputs would be a lot harder to conclusivley prove and so it may be more of a grey area to police. Ford have official specs on the XR6T so there is no argument.

I sure you will find that the insurace is not valid if the vehicle is not being driven legally.

If you lose your licence and keep driving it, and have an accident, you wouldnt expect them to pay would you. No - because you broke the law.

Also insuirace would not cover you if you were driving legally but were on your way away from a bank that you had just robbed - wont pay then either.

The only question that really remains is - IS IT LEGAL. If so - no problem at all. If it is not then dont buy it.

Even if your father purchased, registered and insured the car it would not be covered if you were illegally driving it when involved in an accident.
