So, if people think the economy is crap then the RBA reacts to that and if their confidence improves then they react to that. The RBA is reactive and not proactive. It followed this same pattern for years and years, it's not just in the last few years or anything. When people say "Interest rates should have fallen 6 months ago" the reason they didn't is cause the RBA waits and reacts, they are cautious in their actions. So just because things are bad doesn't mean the RBA will cut, consumers have to actually believe things are bad for them to cut. If consumers think things are fine then the RBA won't move... But, it is often a selfish or revenge based act if one takes their own life. One should really consider how it impacts those close, and a far. And, how it models to our children, what we do when faced with adversity. To those that say just harden the fark up, maybe you should do some reflection on your personal self-awareness, and seek to be a little more compassionate. Because depression has taken the lives of many, many, many great and valued people.

My wife had moderate post natal depression with our second baby which was one of the causes. The other causes would have been the financial situation going backwards a little with her on maternity leave plus being self employed plus selling a property and getting a bigger mortgage plus stress of teaching a TAFE class one afternoon a week (never done any sort of public speaking, let alone teaching with minimal sleep from having a baby and a toddler and a business). I was also diagnosed with having Psoriatic Arthritis. Being a sparky with painful finger joints doesn't exactly fill you with joy.I guess the stresses all added up and luckily for me they have dropped off one by one. First, I dropped the teaching (that was easy, shouldn't have taken it on really, but thought since they asked me I should give it a go)Then my wife went back to work after a year off and her depression started improving significantly straight away (we tried her on the jack and jills but she stopped after 6 weeks saying they were making her put on weight which would be more depressing in the long run).financial pressure eased with her working again. Now I know there is light at the end of the tunnel as soon as I can get better sleep. Its awful being tired ALL the time and wanting to go to bed at 9pm and up at 5:30 with getting up a few times in the night, really takes its toll on any social health. Talking to mates takes your mind off your stresses but you have to weigh it up against those precious hours you need to pay off your sleep debt.Being chronically tired also affects your decisions and general mood with your wife, kids, work.
