Hi guys im new here and had a little look around in regards to this topic but just need some clarifying.

I have a bf turbo 95000km's with a 6 speed manual currently running 280rwkw. Just recently iv been getting a ticking noise from my gearbox, the noise is evident when the clutch is not pressed, when I push the clutch about halfway to the friction point the noise disappears, however if I push further all the way to back of the firewall it comes back louder and faster then when the clutch is not pressed (hope that makes sense). I can faintly here it when cruising with the revs bellow 2000rpm, the noise seems to disappear once engine revs increase. It doesn't effect the performance of the gearbox at all. It is also not the thrust bearing as iv had this checked out, I think its the netural rollover every seems to speak of with the 6sp, the guys at HPF told me it seems normal but dont know unless they take apart the gearbox. None of my mates cars (bf turbo and ba 2 typhoon both manual with more km's and more rwks) have the issue, any help would be appreciated

thanks!

since it changes with clutch pedal pressure, and its not the thrust bearing I would put my money on the clutch daiphram spring.

cheers, andy

I have the same problem, just fitted a rebuilt t56 from mal woods and the clutch was only replaced not long before. the gearbox specialist near my place said that some just make that noise. it is a little disconcerning all the same though lol

Hi guys sorry for the late reply took it to a couple of mechanics, one reckons its just a rattling noise inside the gearbox and doesn't really want to pull it all apart whilst the other just said what the general consensus is, which that it is normal and not to worry. The last couple of weeks it seems to have gone completely, not sure if its the hot weather in Victoria, my bet is though that it will definitely return.
