To me it sounds like the spare tyre bouncing in the well. However more likely it's the piss poor way they have poorly installed the jack etc in the styrofoam holder.. The one that isn't glued down in my mkII. Also the other day when nailing it off the line I somehow managed to select 2nd, (may or may not have been in manual mode, can't remember) and what followed was a sound that was similar to the diff/drive train falling out on the road! Was a really loud thumbing noise... Thanks Dennis

Pulled the spare tyre out with jack n it was still there. Changed the control blade bushes and upper shock mount bushes and still there. Got new shocks going in thursday, then next step will be diff bushes. I have 80,0000kms and only just bought the car so dunno if it was always there though or its from wear and tear

Post below from Wa g6et.Posted in I got suspension knock.quoteCould be the top mount even if it looks ok. My suspension shop has recently had a few FGs with top mount bushes causing knocks but still look ok. Noises went after replacing, not cheap at $180 for a Ford factory part.<br />Also if you have lowered and run caster correction then there is the possibility of the RH inner upper arm rear bush bolt hitting the spring especially when going over drives or bumps when turning. End quoteCould this be the thudding noise?

The mechanic at Ford told me control blade bushes and upper shock mount bushes so I replaced them both and the knock was still there.Funnily enough I cut the rear muffler out and replaced it with a straight pipe 2 days ago and I was driving around yesterday and noticed I didn't have the knock! Could just be my mind playing tricks on me and I can't hear it over the exhaust now but maybe it is the rear muffler. Either way my car is getting its diff bushes replaced as we speak so I should never hear the knock again! Not sure if the same would apply to you as being MKII I can't imagine you have 80,000kms yet to have stuffed diff bushes lol
