How many people are using an under battery intake on here I wonder?

I am using an Under Battery Intake, car has seen 417rwkw on Autotechs Dyno and has run 134.5 MPH.

Might be worth mentioning that the under water intakes (lol) might also get more dirt/dust from the road blowing in there, clogging filter earlier. How much difference it would make between services I don't know.

I have cleaned mine once since I bought it 18 months ago and it wasn't dirty at all.

Hmm, this makes me think I should just go with it then.

Still haven't heard back from the guy with the battery relocation as to paying him or getting it shipped even though he messaged me and asked if I still wanted it.

So I could buy the rapids gear now and -maaaaaaybe- have it delivered by next Friday.

Will I need to have it tuned if I install the IC and intake? I believe some people say yes, some people say no as it affects cars differently?

Nope,a re tune isn't needed but you will be required to stay off boost until the new tune is done.Id say the lower pressure drop compared to std cooler/piping will provide access to some over boost above factory spec even with factory dump/cat in place.I know of a couple HDI kits that made the vehicles over boost with stock exhaust still intact and the rapid kits flow better.

I mean, you probably could check it out with a wide open load up and see if it over boosts or stays as is.....totally up to you but not a risk id be prepared to take.It may not consistently over boost so if the test proves it stays at 4-5psi I wouldn't take the info to the bank as it may change its mind on different days/weather etc.

What is it with an intercooler kit that makes the car potentially over boost? Is it just cooler air or something?

If so, wouldn't it be no different to running the car in summer on a 40 degree day, then again in winter on a 4 degree night, except it's more like always running on a 4 degree night lol.

Thanks for the info though will probably get a tune afterwards or at least tweak the stock tune a bit

Id buy the raw kit at 1k(cooler and piping) and fit your own intake. Here's a pic of mine,it cost me $150 all up,the airbox cost me less than $40 and its insulated and powder coated black. It also has beaded 4" ally piping inside the joiners to stop sucking in,the joiners help keep the heat out of the metal intake somewhat from tests.

Here's a pic of intake, your parts would be the same but use a 3" to 4" 45* joiner off the turbo instead of a 4" joiner off the turbo like mine uses because of larger housing.Cost would be the same.In the pics you will notice I have removed the spot welds and discarded the oem battery tray, gets alot more air to pod now like this and will be painted soon, has been hit with touch up paint for now and sealed.

A new brace and box now resides but haven't got pics yet, around $200 all up for 4" intake with enclosed box.Its not as well sealed on the side panel(still pretty good for 20 minutes work)but works as I hoped, keeps the filter allot cooler than exposed which never really caused me an issue tbh.Ill take some better pics soon of enclosure. The tiny gaps on side panel are easily rectified by using the template and just enlarging the needed areas on another template and then refitting,re trim, refit,re trim...until you get the flush look,it will take an hour max to do this,I just couldn't be effed with the perfection...I like rustic!

Fit everything yourself and make the intake making $1200 possible to get job done.BTW,the bigger cooler fits the front bar so much better, fills it nicely:)
