Sorry if this has been covered but I'm on a tiny phone and navigating around is hard

Anyway - my friend has a BA 5 speed but has been told he will need to change his driveshaft and clutch if to convert to a 6.. Is this true?

I'm not mechanical minded so would appreciate the expertise of you guys

Dave

you can the 5 speeds clutch, but it would not be anywhere near as strong as some of the basic 6 speed clutches, the tailshaft requires a different yoke on it

Panda, no need for a wreckers tailshaft, just change to the correct slip yoke and job is done, as previously said.

All 6 cylinders from BA onwards have 23 spline input shaft, 5 or 6 speed.

No cables all hydraulic.

The concentric slave cylender see should probably be changed to alloy one if using a better clutch.

Need reverse lockout solonoid, bell housing, Slip yoke to suit t56. T56 itself and the shifter/knob. And oil as well. From memory about 4 litres, fill it up through the shifter hole!

Really simple conversion.

Can't recommend ace clutches enough, mal wood and various other shops supply them!

Ahh ok, sounds somewhat straight forward which is good.

I was just doing a bit of browsing on this forum as I have found a ba xr6t that's pretty much exactly what I was chasing but it has the t5z and reading about them on this forum has put the fear of god in me about them!

The engine isn't modded or anything so it should be ok to drive around until I figure out what power I want out of it hopefully!

I know the t56 is an awesome strong gearbox, I had one in my old vy ss and that was pushing 350rwkw and it never skipped a beat.
