that's pretty cool. I would love to know how they went about things 25 years ago.

If he's after someone who's still in the game and in my opinion one of the best I can recommend Cam from Custom CareCare Wagga:

25 years ago it was all basics and elbow grease. Kerosene was used a lot for cleaning and good quality basic polish

Old tooth brush for cleaning in trim detail and focusing on the little fine detail that has a big visual impact. No real secrets just hard work

Machine buffers were a last resort

There is so many options for products today that makes it easier but they all still are only as good as the effort put in

Bionic on black looks nice. Good work. What do you mean full car compound and then 2 polishes? What did you use for: - pads and polish? - paint decontamination? Eg. IPA or other? - sealant? Are you planning to top the sealant with a wax? How did you go with splatter? ;p

Hey mate no pads or splatter there :) all by hand. This time used all meguiers products (normally use autoglym)

Started with 2 full hot scrubs

CLAY BAR

ULTIMATE COMPOUND

DEEP CRYSTAL PAINT CLEANER

SHOWCAR GLAZE

DODO JUICE SEAL

The colour is nitro, slightly different and more metallic then bionic.

Well said mate.

PS: hope they didn't smoke around the kero. I bet the old man has some stories.

So is this the right order of steps and products all of which I have in my shed

Wash

Clay Bar - ( Mothers Clay Bar Kit )

Compound - ( Meguiars Ultimate Compound )

Cleaner - ( Meguiars Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner )

Glaze - ( Meguiars Show Car Glaze )

Wax - ( Mothers California Gold Carnauba Wax )

When I had my SS I use to just wash it, Clay bar it and the hit it with some polish and it would come up great...I tried the same thing with my Force 6 and the results where pretty ordinary im thinking its because of the colour being EGO not WHITE like the SS was

So some help would be apprecaited lol

I wasn't joking earlier when I said white's one of the easiest colours to maintain. It depends on what kind of finish you're chasing but you may want to look at a beginner machine like a random orbital.

Specifically what was "pretty ordinary"? What did you notice?

Ill give it ago next weekend and let everyone know how it goes...

I found that it come up very dull on the EGO colour and you could see alot of polish marks that with endless rubbing it still didnt make a difference... I had to rewash the car and was still average...so im going to give the above process a go see if it makes a difference
