I think it was around 11:30 or 12 before I started with any product on the bonnet. Didn't feel hot at all....
Guest XR09 Guests Posted 10/09/12 05:12 AM Share Posted 10/09/12 05:12 AM The bonnet, roof and boot all cop the most sun. The paint will be drier on those panels. The bonnet more so, as it has to cope with engine heat from below as well. So it gets a head start every time in the heat up stakes. If you look at the paint under a microscope it isn't flat. It needs fillers to protect it and stop the oils leaching...paint fade. The drier it gets the more it opens up.Hard as it sound you need to smooth off the paint. You can get a decent orbital and waste a pad and a lot of compound. Or one sheet of 3M1800...up to you.People go off about using paper on a car...but they do use it...a lot. For that reason. It's not hard and probably better than a buff and a hard pad with compound. And you would more than likely hit it with a hard pad to smooth it out.But if you do use paper you will need to make it shine again with a buff

I.e. use a scourer or steel wool and morning fresh.

I was previously using the meguires but it is really only suited for someone with a car that is kept in excellent condition like most of you fellas as the 3M is a little more harsh. Also I did use the Turtle brand of liquid clay sample that I had from ages ago and used it with the meguires and 3M bar with good success.I swear though that ford made the territory shape to collect all excess road tar off of our main roads as my car is just fcking ridiculous everytime I go out in it! I want to know how the fck tar manages to get on the rear spoiler lip of my car when it is 6ft off the ground and know where near the wheels!
