Now he's a mate of my old mans so I'd say he's not talking smack. Now before I go ahead and pay the $300 (which I don't have at the moment lol) I was hoping to give it a crack myself. I've got a car buff to use (just a cheap supercheap one) would the pads that come with this be any good or should I buy different ones? Point me in the right direction please. Also what sort of a polish should I be using? Probably something that cuts a bit aswell because the swirls are pretty bad. Also nothing over the top expensive because if it works out too much I'll get the panel beater to do it when I have some money.Going to be giving it a wax after the polish so a good wax for silhouette would be good to know too.Cheers guys! You can see in these photos how bad it is! This was straight after it was washed

A decent Random Orbital and polish (such as Poorboys, Menzerna etc - even basics like the Megiars range or Autoglym) and some decent pads will cost way more than $300. You could buy a cheap rotary sander/polisher and some decent polish and pads but being a black car you have every chance of burning the paint.Rotaries are best left to people with some experience.I myself have about $850 worth of polishes, waxes, machines and stuff.Pay the man $300 and give him some beer. Polishing cars sucks.google 'waxit car care' for a rough idea on how much stuff can cost for dickheads like me who can't just wash a car and be done with it. Like meguiars deep crystal paint cleaner.. That's a very light cutting agent. Then give it a few coats of a good wax.. I personally used to use meguiars wet look crystal polish.. It was easy and made black cars stunning..Alternately try clay bar?Given the age of these cars I'd be cautious before cutting it 3 times..

From what bigkeels said I think I might do it by hand rather than use the buff!Thinking about using poorboys black hole to clean the swirls up then use ion coat naviwax dark to wax it. These products, plus applicators and microfibre cloths work out to be $120 from waxit.com.auSound like a good path to take?I don't really want to cut (which is why I don't like the panel beater doing it) and these products don't do any cutting

Wash, clay bar, swirl remover then polish. It's nothing complex it just takes time...and for a lazy impatient bastard like me that's a massive ordeal.A proper professional detail would definitely give you better results but I can't justify spending all that when it's going to be dirty within 38 seconds of the garage door opening. To the layman the result is awesome.Generally just use Meguirs products from Supercrap or wherever.

Yea I'm trying to find out how much better the stuff big keels uses is over the Meguirs stuff. I think I have a bottle of Meguirs deep crystal polish at home so maybe I should give that a go first before buying all the expensive stuff lol.Id say dark car specific wax is good to go with though! Got my uni holidays next week, just another job to add to the list now lol
