hey guys,

is there any advantaged using a 17 x 9 rim instead of the ba/bf factory rim with a 275/40/17 tyre for drag use down to strip? Was thinking because of the wider rim it would give greater contact patch for the tyre?

Totally agree,my 16x8s only just spread my 255/50/16 ET Streets, now way a 8" rim could make full use of the 275 tire.

Guys with 3-400rwkw ish get away with it but when hunting that sub 1.5 60ft a wider contact patch will be needed.Every bald set of 275s on a BA 17x8 rim has some meat left on the shoulder from what I've seen.

Nup other way round my 275's wear perfictly on ba xr6 rims and u want side wall flex that's why 18 psi is spot on that amount of flex vs grip bloosted did 1.55 on my combo

Winning tried and true method

Iam fairly sure rlquick had this combo for 1.45

At the top end of the track as the wheel speed is getting higher you might find the the tyre pulls in - in extreme terms, think about a top fueller doing a burnout.

At the start of the run though the lower tyre pressure means that the contact patch will be flat

Was joking about pics ya stooge,I have had them before so I know how they wear, its the reason why I went 255/50/16 on a 16x8 Skyline rim.

Out of the 4 I got at home only one wore on the inside a bit faster than the other 3 must of been a bad alighnment the pic I just put up was when I got the tyres got them 2 nd hand and that's when one was majorly worn more than the other

The next new set were mounted to ba xr6 rims have been awsome so far this is my experiances so only commenting on what has worked for me
