Hi Guys,

I have just joined the forum & need some advice.

My husband & I bought a manual 2010 FVP F6 (from a dealership) 4 days ago & hubby has just come home saying he suspects theres a fuel leak as the car reaks of fuel, especially in the boot. I noticed on the night he picked it up, after we had been driving for about half an hour that it smelt like fuel inside the car, the fumes were quite bad and mentioned it to hubby.

He also took a mate for a drive who also mentioned the car smells like fuel.

Could it be a fuel leak? Is this covered by warranty? Is it ok to drive?

Thanks heaps

Thanks I am quite pi&&ed off about it... the car cost us just under $50,000 so I dont like the thought of it having problems.

Just went outside to have a look at it & swap the cars around as hubby will have to take mine to work tomorrow now & the smell of fuel coming from the car is so strong, could smell fuel as soon as I walked out of the house and its even worse inside the car!

Told hubby not to start it up, dont want to risk anything bad happening, I will be straight on the phone to them tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow morning, check under the car and see if there's petrol/liquid on the ground. At least it gives you an idea of whether it's a small or large leak. If there's a pool of fuel then it's got a serious hole somewhere...if this is the case, you can stress to the dealer about how it breaches environmental regulations. It's illegal to have fuel or oil or other such liquids entering the drinking water or sewerage systems.

Fuel leak is no problem compared to trying to claim on Fords warranty.

Bite on a lemon and pull a funny face, then try to say, "No I think that is industry standard" ha ha they do it really well
