Guest XR09 Guests Posted 27/08/12 06:46 AM Share Posted 27/08/12 06:46 AM The airbox can give as much air as needed with a decent flowing filter. Next cheapest is a V8 or T6 one. But they are pulling 300's with std air boxes.Yours will be crackalaken with 180. Altho some FG's are turning decent firgures...go figure.

I forget how many times ... it would have been betteer off just buying the car he wanted in the 1st place rather than dicking around making a bitsa. That's such a bargain! I just sold my BA MKII XR6 with 150,000kms for $10k so definitely aim for $8-9kI would suggest only doing the cold air upgrade (cut the front of the box out and put a K n N) and the underdrive pulley kit. Any more is a bit of a waste because it will cost you big $$ for relatively small gains and if your going for a turbo save your money for that.Plus I noticed that when selling mine people preferred cleaner cars that weren't really modified (it makes people feel better that they're not flogged lol)As for the exhaust. maybe buy a catback if your really want an exhaust (can be had for a few hundred on ebay) and then bolt the stock catback on to sell and if you have a young bloke interested in the car offer to put the aftermarket back on.In the end up to you but I just went through selling mine and although its a great P-plate car the people that were interested in mine were older people so the more subtle modifications are better for resale. and then you can save up your money for the T! Way more gains to be had for same $$I would probly go with whs^ or nothing at all except for your muffler which could be replaced back to standard.... then just start saving for your mods. I.e intercooler, injectors, full exhaust, oil pump gears all that sh*t. Kinda of a waste of money I reckon modding the N/A if ya plan on pissing it off in only 9 months. Easiest way is to transplant everything! So long motor, gearbox, then you still need to do the mods to get the power you want, plus theres all the install, wiring, having the car reprogrammed etc, PLUS you need to account for other things if you want an F6 ie your brakes, suspension etc.And then after that you still have 150,000kms of wear and tear on everything else like bushes etc so its not just the motor and gearbox, you gotta think everything else will need replacing soon. One guy on here posted just the other day saying he just finished his conversion and he knows his stuff by the sounds of it but after doing all that the car won't wind over and he's stumped as to what it is! You'd hate to spend all that time and money and the car doesn't start because you could end up spending huge $$$ trying to check parts or get someone else to figure it out for you.Personally you stand to make a nice profit on your NA, just don't muck around with it in terms of mods because it'll hold value better and then save up and buy your T. That's what I did and don't regret a single thing! On a side not you say you want 500rwhp so like a bit under 400rwkw, maybe have a drive of a members car around your area if you can because that's a hell of a lot of power and will cost you a lot more than $5k! go through the 400 thread and you'll see whats involved! Plus driving someones car with that kind of power will give you an idea of if you need that much or not. I want from a 182kw xr6 to my 270 FG xr6t and it keeps you more than happy enough for a while!Anyway personal opinion but something to consider
