Heya guys,

Been noticing something weird with my car.

I took it out to a mates farm and he has this nice straight road :D so I thought I'd take it for a drive.

When I floored it, I got to about 100 and the exhaust made this noise and lost most of the power. It was as if the exhaust 'farted'. Im thinking maybe there was a heap of air going through at once? But its happened a few times.

Talking to a few people who own FG's and theirs do it as well. Is there a way to fix it? Or is it something that's supposed to happen?

Thanks guys :)

And Stability Control. They both have the ability to cut the ignition to cylinders to return traction (Traction Control) or keep the car on the correct line (Stability Control).

That's an interesting question. I would guess it does, otherwise it would intervene when people did burnouts and the steering wheel didn't point where the car was going.

The exhaust farting could be the torque reduction between gears in the auto. Mines quite loud with the full exhaust.

Torque tags can be removed in a tune however my tuner advised against this to help preserve the gearbox. A ZF tune will also help with sharper shifts.

When I got my fg I noticed it straight away, I called ford and the told me its completely normal ab I've heard many fgs do it since, I was told its excess air sucked through being shot out but I also have noticed it happens when traction control usually hits so it could stop when it's off, an I know you can get rid of it as well, not exactly certain how though..

Yea traction control was off. I tend to drive with it off (canberran drivers are the worst so be ready for anything).

I talked to my mechanic today as I was booking it in for its 50k service. He said it was excess air being shot out during gear changes or something (wasnt quite lsitening as I just came off a 12 hour night shift).

He said its normal and it should go away if I get it tuned.

I have learned that the majority of people at Ford don't even know what the hell they're talking about, so asking them would be as good as asking your grandmother.
