@ pookey im building the motor myself so saving a bucket load there and as im in the trade ill be trying to get trade price on as much as possible.

@ possum I may be wrong but as a mechanic at mazda we had a rod and piston recall on the current model mazda 6, one came in were the customer said that from day 1 hes only ever used E10 and said to have a look and see if its done anything to the internals. as a result of the E10 use there was a carbon type build up on the valves and piston crowns only it was white not black. as I said that was caused by E10 so I could only imagine E85 would be worse.

With 500kw, you will be up for everything. Bigger intake, bigger turbo, bigger intercooler, battery relocation kit, valve springs, rods, pistons, exhaust manifold, full exhaust, anti surge fuel tank and pumps. Input shaft on the auto, along with a strengthened tail shaft and at least a truetrac if you want a reliable diff. Then there is all of the little things that will add up but you won't think of. Diff bushes, oil pump, cooler thermostat etc. the list just goes on. My guess would be parts alone, the build would be closer to 20k than 10k. Good luck with it all, as there is a big step when trying to get 500 as apposed to 400 out of these cars

Heaps of people with really high powered cars run pump E85 and Sucrogen E85 plus other methanol based fuels. These are very powerful cars with fine tolerances so if there was any of this build-up you talk of, we would have heard about it by now. I'm leaning more on it being dodgy fuel from a servo. Most consumers use the same servo to fill up all the time so it's quite possible the local one had dodgy tanks or something. Everyone here and on other forums with high performance cars raves about E85, as do the tuners and mechanics of these cars.

I used to work at a mazda dealership also and have carried out a few of the 6 recalls lol, after pulling down several falcon motors that have been running E85 for considerable amounts I time. I have not seen any ill effects from the use of E85

No question 6boost.

As for all the bits & pieces needed for a good reliable 500rwkw on pump you might as well aim for a 1000rwhp on race fuel it's the same thing pretty much. 500rwkw on e85 on the otherhand is simple & easy in comparison. It's not the first time that's expensive its the 2nd & 3rd time that it really starts to add up.

6BOOST all the way! Kyle will also be able to advise you on correct turbo combination to reach your goal. The boys up there have more 600rwkw+ turbo six's coming out of their shop than anyone one else I know.

Also, I wouldn't push things to hard on pump 98. 500rwkw on E85 will be a lot safer and easier to achieve than on 98.

You can throw the kitchen sink at it but a bad batch of fuel can undo all the good work not to mention a faulty component. There are plenty of safety measures that you can take to minimilise the risk. One is save the big hp pump runs for dyno days or do the tune & throw some toulene in the tank or run a good quality water/meth kit to give you that safety margain. We build these cars to rape and flog but we can still look after them & do our level best to help them survive
