Was driving on the freeway last night and gave it a bit in 3rd. Next minute throttle became stuck open so I immediately hit the brakes but realised this is not going to stop me quickly as its power v's brakes and the brakes are going to eventually die. So I thought I could I could go down gears if it was in desperate need so I just hit the throttle and it went back to normal. Was scarey though for a split second and I could get me in real trouble if I was in the wrong spot.

So where do I start looking? Carpet mats are a long way from the throttle so its not that, so maybe its the throttle body somewhere?

Every single time I see this its always a carpet matt lol accelerator pedal is very unlikely as there are 3 potentiometers in bfs and 2 in fgs and the pcm cross references the signals. Could be a sticky throttle body or faulty pcm buy again never seen em fail like that.... Self test will reveal alot

The only times I have throttle jam on were from a cruise control setting wrong in the tune and from floor mats, as mentioned, the throttle strategy has 3 circuits which cross check each other and if the ecu sees a problem it normally goes into guard mode

are your floor mats the ones that are hooked at the bottom or can they shift, as Id be looking at them if not secured in place. The pedal can get caught quite funnily to a mat that shifts even though it looks like it shouldnt.

Im speaking from experiencing it. Also if you have a throttle sticking situation just turn the key to acc to kill the engine but still allow steering etc. Going down gears with it rev limiting isnt going to be great.
