I always double the clutch when going into 5th I try to take it easy into 5th as I have heard of the troubles everyone's having. Then again it's hard to have a really fast gear change because the shift is so long, you have to be quite presice.

Lifetime Members 306 Member For: 21y 9m 14d Gender: Male Location: Geelong Posted 05/03/04 02:10 AM Share Posted 05/03/04 02:10 AM My car is in the dealership as we speak getting a new gearbox fitted! I found that the clutch fluid got dirty really quick and then the gear changes got sh*tty, so I flushed the clutch fluid and then all was good for a week. Started being sh*tty to change gears again and checked the clutch fluid and was dirty again! Seems odd to me, maybe its a clutch throw out bearing and slave cyclinder problem! First off I found it very hard to get in reverse, the wife couldn't get it into reverse, then 3rd gear started catching on the way out to second or fourth, now the fifth gear crunching your all talking about started to happen and its very stiff to move around in neutral. Spoke to the dealer and within half an hour they had a new gearbox coming. Will see how it goes tonight! My car has only 7k on it and it isn't a T. I am even getting a free loan car. :banghead: The story goes that they were originally replacing the whole box but now they are only replacing 5th gear.I know that that dealership gets 2 cars per month. Now one would assume the manual / auto split is 50 / 50. The car has been out for about 15 months which means they have received 15 manual cars. Mine will be the sixth one they have had problems with. This means they are replacing about 40% of the boxes. One would suggest that would nearly constitute a recall.cheersbrendon

No other gear seems to be a problem as yet.A change at relatively slow speeds is still OK. 10k on the clock. What are they going to do to fix it?replace a cr@p box that crunches with another box that is going to crunch later? I just change up slower now and when it finally sh!ts its self, I go in for a new box
