So here is one for the guys who know heaps about autos, replaced the auto in my old xg ute cos it was basically shagged, the auto I bought is from a reputable wreckers in my area, ment to have had a service filter kit in it, looks like new extension housing seal too. Took it for a drive tonite for the first time and its in my book no good. Auto is harsh to say the least in gear changes when it will change, torque converter feels like its locked in from the start (engine sounds like its workin overtime) only way I can get it to change gears without revvin the hell out of it, which I didnt do, is back off and accelerate again and it seems to change alrite doing that. Tried ahifting manually but it wont change either.

So thoughts guys?? Im not a real auto trans specialist personally but my experience says I need to pull it out again and get another one

And you thought there were reputable wreckers. No such thing. Check fluid level, check all electrical, check selector switch, not much more you can do if you dont know much about them. Solenoids such as the S5 reek havoc.
