Metal mesh covering spaced away from cooler? And add in a gap above it, put a small air scoop to force air down through :)

I'll definitely be getting that cooler done now.

Like the fact that it doen't require the very long hoses required to mount on the front right bar.

(I already have an engine oil cooler on my front left bar)

Now have a dilemma.

On my current ZF fluid, (which even though was changed in January this year), has done 5 full circuit days (3 at Wakefield (one at near 30deg), 1 at Marulan and 1 at Eastern Creek.)

Will the ZF filter/fluid be fried and should I do a quick fluid/filter change before the September 19th track day where there will be a lot of 3rd to 4th changes?

(I already have enough ZF fluid left over from a 20l bottle I bought from Motospecs last year)

Fluid change only costs me around $200.

Problem is, if I do change it, will it highlight and make the flaring worse on the change from 3rd to 4th due to the lower viscosity of the fresh oil?

I thought the ZF oil would get thicker with a few track days, hence masking the flaring effect?

I know when I changed the oil on a very old 4 speed auto once, the flaring increased as the fresh oil was a lot thinner.

Just need a bandaid fix for my next track day. :)

I noticed another characteristic of my 170,000km+ ZF today. Not dropping into 2nd for quick overtaking when in per auto mode.

Was cruising at 80km/h in PERFORMANCE auto (probably in 6th) when I went to overtake this car in a 100kmh zone near Cessnock.

The car dropped back to what felt like 3rd with my foot flat, and I felt the revs were too low for a quick overtake. It stayed in 3rd for a good 2 seconds still with my foot planted, then suddenly slammed into second with an audible crunch, car went sideways before traction control took over.

Is this the same worn clutch pack problem between my 3rd to 4th changes a redline on the track, or should I just do an oil/filter change?

(I realize I am procrastinating over a full $rebuild$)

Yeah probably a bit fast for 2nd, when I used to drive in P mode I used to love coming out of the M5 east at princess hwy as I used to floor it up the exit at 80kph and it used to drop to 2nd and wheel spin all the way up the exit.

I only drive in manual mode now as I dont want any violent kickdowns that may cause snappage of the input shaft.

Now that I'm used to it I actually prefer driving in man mode.
