WMMFG:

In the last 10 minutes Optus finally let me access this forum again

It's been close to a fortnight since I've been able to log in or even see the forum without using a VPN

I called "tech support" last week (am sure I have a post somewhere about the ordeal)

End of the day the response was "we've had a few calls about that forum"

It was still a problem from my end apparently.

Something to do with "either my anti virus, my computer, my router, my feng shui etc"

Amazingly, 15 mins ago all my problems just magically fixed themselves.

Was a must have for me.

I think it was about $400 - was a few years ago and had to jump through some hoops to get it.

I had really, really spotty reception all throughout the house

I think the in the renno's that were done in the 80's they used a chicken wire or something over the insulation, making half the house act as if it's in a Faraday cage.

I now get pretty much 3/4 signal on 3G throughout the house.

4G is still spotty - not sure if it's due to the area, or the extender not supporting 4G

The "slave unit" for it is in the worst room - which happens to be my bedroom.

I used to wake up each morning - head to the front window and check my voicemails and SMS's that had failed to come through overnight.

Yeah, Telstra are charging $720 to business accounts only.

They will not sell for personal use. Also to get the device, you need to have a telstra mobile sim, before they even consider you.

Kinda stupid that they stipulate that, since we are a customer of theirs and use their network.......

I said to the lady, why else would I be asking you. We have all our mobile phones with you guys.

Since the company that I work for, makes portable accommodation, the current office building was designed and made by the company.

This in turn means that all the metal frames used to make the building acts like a Faraday cage.

We had to setup the receiver on one side of the building to get a signal strength of 5 bars.

We then placed the transmitter in the sales department so that they could make and receive calls.

The catch is that this device is for 3G only.

Make some changes on your phone to only use 3G and you will be laughing. We disabled 4G on all iPhone5 devices and the signal strength went from 2 bar to 5 bar.

Give that a go. ;)

My house has a tin roof and so we have reception issues. We use boost for prepaid services, but it is using the Telstra 3G network which technically means I should be able to get the device.

However Telstra do not want to sell me one. :(

My brother works at a Telstra Business Centre (TBC). If you want me to get him to contact you to sell you one, PM me and I'll pass on your details to him.

Thanks for that K31th. If he were able to give me a discount, then it may be an option or me.

I have just come back from holidays in Europe and $720 ain't going to go down very well at the moment, with the minister of war and finance.......

;)
