Hey there Lilly. I hope you know I'm coming to cuddle Lilly if I'm ever in SA Fluff! Oh and we're all playing golf.

Got a text from my previous housemate (who moved back home to pay off his debts and save money...plus he got diagnosed with diabetes and they don't like you being by yourself while getting used to insulin dosages etc and given I work FIFO that's less than ideal) saying that he and his girlfriend (who I get along well enough with) are looking at renting somewhere closer to uni for her (the girl she was supposed to rent with bailed) and asked if I wanted to rent with them too. This made me feel good as it'll save me $300 a week compared to the rent I'm currently paying by myself, not to mention bills split 3 ways.

This made me happy as it made me realise I could pay off all my debt in 6 months time...you bet your ass my car will get a blower at which point!

Having spent at least 15 years of my life in different share housing arrangements, I gotta say that a single sharing with a couple is by far the least successful.

Being a FIFO guy Stripes, it may work OK though.

But it can get very difficult at times.

Just sayin

Always very easy to spend/commit to more (or at least a good percentage of) than what you have/bring in - regardless of income

Yeah, aware of the potential cons...but it's so much cheaper than my current alternative that it'll have to work. They were the ones that offered anyway, not the other way round. As long as I have my own space where I can get away, chill out and do my own thing then it's cool.

How can a FIFO be in debt.... :ermm:

I bought a brand new car with the intention of paying it off within 6months...then my housemate moved out abruptly and my rent doubled.

You should just build your own place and rent a room out if you know the couple well and can trust them while you are away on site.

Rates are low, there is plenty of good value land around the outer fringes of SOR and NOR Perth (bit of a problem if you are one of them that has to live in the magic triangle) and houses to build are (imo) better value today then they have been in the last 15 years.

Have someone paying your mortgage rather then you paying someone else's :spoton:
