I wasn't allowed to have a boyfriend, or go to parties, or any of that stuff. It was cause he remembered what he was like when he was a teenager, and didn't want any guys like him going near me.But that doesn't work. I'm sure you've all snuck around with a girl with a strict parent. This continued on even when I was over 18. Was finally allowed a boyfriend, but he wasn't allowed to stay the night. So I moved out.I know Dad is always going to see me as 'his little girl'. But our relationship only improved when he dropped the ridiculous rules.Him setting a curfew - that I could understand. Telling me off for having male friends, when I went to a co-ed school....well that was just dumb.I had two girlfriend's in high school who's father's were exactly like this. I seriously don't get the logic behind it. Just because there's people out there who will mess with your life, doesn't mean you shouldn't interact with all other people. This is the same argument as the abstienence only education. There's only going to be people who "rebel" against the level of education and then wind up in the "bad situations" that can arise from ignorance. It's proven to be far better for people to be educated in all possible outcomes, then let the "educated" person make his or her own choices and accept the responsibilities. In my own experience, my dad was strict as all hell on everything except girlfriends (wtf... I know...), until I was 18 and got a license and a car. But as soon as I moved out, just like Adie, even with the "relaxed" rules, things improved dramatically.

Works for me
