Just got off the phone with the NAB to double check what the deal is with internet banking transfer limits.

Up to $20,000 you can do a day, she checks and I'm at the default of $5,000, so I get her to change it and transfer the $15,000 for the home loan deposit into my ING account.

Considering I only received 0.04 cents back in interest last financial year - I'm not kidding either, so much for a "savings" account - I thought I might as well transfer it to the ING account and earn 2.75% calculated daily.

Banks rip you off in so many ways.

So now I just need to save up some more as a buffer to cover council rates, connection fees and extra for things I haven't even though about yet.  I'm thinking $5K should cover all the bases and what I don't use, I'll keep for a rainy day, such as alternator going, emergency dental, you know, the stuff you never think about until it happens.

So feeling quite pleased that I'm finally getting there on the owning my own home front.

Was literally reading about savings accounts tonight and what has the best returns.

ING is the best by far and has the best security. Apparently.
